WebDec 26, 2024 · The most effective pattern I have tried (and tied) is the deer hair gomphus but it is a pain to tie, especially when it only takes 2-3 trout to ruin a fly. The 2 flies in the picture are some attempts I have made to come up with an alternative to deer hair. Proportions still aren't whaere I want them but I thought I would share anyway.
